What can I do the day of?

Drumbeat is exciting because you will create your experience.  As you look at the schedule, and when you enter Drumbeat San Diego, look for places where you could a) lend your skills, b) learn something new and c) have fun.  There are a variety of spaces, and this event is about building and learning across diverse communities, so plan to be an active participant, not merely an attendee.

Here is the schedule for the day: http://www.newmediarights.org/drumbeat/drumbeat_san_diego_schedule

What food will be available at Drumbeat San Diego?

MIHO Gastrotruck food truck is serving the first 60 registered people who show up for free starting at 12:30. If you're planning on attending the event, make sure you're registered and plan to arrive early to get organic, delicious MIHO truck food for free!  We will provide some free water and snacks at the event, highlighted by cupcakes from VintageSugarCube in in the afternoon.  The Queen Bees cafe will also be open and selling drinks and snacks.

What do I bring?

If you do bring a laptop, you will want to check the sessions you want to attend in advance to be prepared.  For example, The Open Data Project and the Open Source Music Experimentation space are sessions where having software installed in advance of the sessions will be a big help!  Again, check the working schedule to plan your day and get details about the day!

Please bring your outreach flyers, information about projects you are working on, business cards, this will be a great event to network connect with people.

*** Friendly Reminder: No organizer or organization working on Drumbeat San Diego is responsible for your personal belongings. Please keep them with you at all times during the Drumbeat San Diego event.

Download & install these programs/data for these specific sessions:

The Open Data Project & Music Experimentation spaces are both using open source software and it will be useful to have it pre-loaded on your laptop before arriving.

Open Data Project: Install Geonode and the data set here.

Music Experimentation: Install Audacity, Ardour, Pd, and Hydrogen

How do I get around?

You will have a map handed to you when you arrive, and the schedule will be available online as well as at the event.
