Tommy Lavine

 

Tommy is a second-year law student at California Western School of Law, with a unique background as a former athlete and actor. Combining his passion for entertainment with a strong legal foundation, he aims to pursue a career in entertainment law.

In addition to his athletic and acting careers, Tommy has gained valuable in-house legal experience, working with organizations such as Vistage Worldwide and ProPath, where he supported contract negotiations, intellectual property issues, and compliance matters. These experiences have fueled his desire to work at the intersection of law and entertainment, where he hopes to advise clients on contracts, intellectual property, and media rights.

Fluent in Spanish, Tommy is committed to merging his diverse background with his legal expertise to help shape the future of entertainment law.

Luke Turner

 

Luke McKay Turner is a dedicated third-year law student at California Western School of Law, set to graduate in May 2025. A first-generation law student with a strong commitment to academic and professional growth, Luke received his M.A. and B.A. degrees in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University.

Luke is deeply involved in leadership, having served as the President of both the Student Intellectual Property Law Society and the Business Law Society at Cal Western. He actively participated as a member of California Western’s Trial Team and currently serves as the C.F.O. of the Moot Court Honors Board. These roles highlight Luke’s passion for advocacy, collaboration, and making a positive impact on their peers and the legal community.

In addition to his time at law school, Luke has gained practical legal experience by serving as a law clerk at a personal injury law firm and externing with a U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge. His career interests lie in business litigation, entertainment, and intellectual property law.

When not focused on law, Luke enjoys living in San Diego, exploring his love for lively social outings, going to the beach, trying new foods, and sharing life with his partner. Luke is also known for their quick wit, thoughtful insights, and dedication to building meaningful connections in both personal and professional settings.

Ehren Azeris

Ehren Azeris

Ehren is a second-year California Western School of Law student with a B.A. in English from CU Denver. After undergrad, he worked for in-house counsel at Broadridge, where he gained valuable experience in contract drafting and regulatory compliance. Ehren continued working in tandem with the legal department for the next five years after transitioning to a position as a Mutual Fund Analyst. Working closely with in-house counsel to address complex issues and build lasting client relationships sparked his interest in a legal career, as he saw firsthand the value attorneys provide to business growth.

Ehren is thrilled to join New Media Rights. He looks forward to using his work experience while furthering his legal education to help creative professionals navigate the challenges of the Internet and new media.

Rachel Kupfer

Rachel is a third-year law student at California Western School of Law. Before attending law school, Rachel earned her B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Philosophy from San Diego State University. Prior to law school, Rachel worked at a law firm that specializes in estate planning and then in-house at a financial services company in the securities litigation and arbitration group.

During law school, Rachel has gained valuable experience working in business and intellectual property law at a transactional business law firm, as a Legal Extern to the Honorable Karen S. Crawford at the United States District Court for the Southern District, and as a Summer Associate at a full-service law firm in its Corporate & Securities practice group, where she will return post-bar. Rachel is thrilled to join New Media Rights this trimester and is excited to assist creators and entrepreneurs with their legal needs, aligning seamlessly with her passion for working at the intersection of business, technology, and the law.

Allie Miller

Allie Miller is a third-year law student at California Western School of Law. Before law school, she earned her B.S. in Strategic Communications and Public Relations from the University of Colorado Boulder and spent three years in PR agencies, where she provided media support, developed strategic partnerships, and negotiated influencer agreements for a variety of clients and brands.

During law school, Allie gained valuable, diverse experience at a plaintiff-side consumer protection firm, the U.S. Attorney's Office Civil Division, a judicial externship with a federal magistrate judge, and a labor & employment defense firm. She is looking forward to offering legal guidance to creators & entrepreneurs, combining her public relations expertise with her legal skills. Outside of her work and studies, Allie enjoys yoga, hiking, attending concerts, and exploring new restaurants.

Connie Pasha

Connie is a second-year law student at California Western School of Law, with a B.A. in Political Science from UC San Diego. Over the summer, Connie gained valuable experience as a Summer Associate at an employment defense firm, where she played a key role in supporting attorneys who defend and advise employers. Looking ahead, Connie is thrilled to work with New Media Rights, an opportunity that combines her personal love for creative projects with her professional passion for learning about the law and using that knowledge to assist others. When not immersed in legal studies, Connie enjoys staying active with hot yoga, exploring the natural beauty of San Diego, and unwinding by watching reality TV. 

Katie Henry

Katie is a second-year student at California Western School of Law. Before attending law school, Katie received her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles. During her undergraduate studies, Katie was a student researcher and editor for several nonprofits and independent authors. 

Katie is a San Diego native with a passion for making legal insights more accessible. For this reason, Katie is proud to serve the mission of New Media Rights by helping provide resources to local creators.

Carlos Cuevas

Carlos is a second-year law student at California Western School of Law. Before attending law school, Carlos received his B.A. in International Studies with a concentration in Law & Human Rights, and a regional focus in Latin America from the University of Oregon. After graduating, he worked at the public defender's office, and a boutique employment & labor law firm in Portland, Oregon. 
 
Carlos is excited to combine his interests in the arts and law while working at New Media Rights. During his undergraduate studies, Carlos developed professional interests in journalism, tech, and film through extracurriculars and elective courses. While in law school, Carlos serves on the board of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association as Patent Committee Representative and works at a firm specializing in securities class actions. In his free time, Carlos enjoys hiking, reading and casually practicing his Spanish on a foreign language learning app.

Gabrielle Mark-Bachoua

Gabi is a second-year law student at California Western School of Law. Prior to entering law school, Gabi earned a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Philosophy from UC Davis. She also spent time teaching English in Mexico and working at a binational non-profit in San Diego. Gabi is thrilled to serve the New Media Rights mission and protect and empower local creatives. In her free time Gabi enjoys reading, baking, and playing basketball.

Deanna Maayaa

Deanna is a second-year law student at California Western School of Law. Before attending law school, Deanna received her B.A. in Communications with minors in Film and Video Production and International Relations from UC San Diego. After graduating, she worked for Pigment in San Diego and interned for a California state representative.  

Deanna is excited to join New Media Rights to merge her two passions of the arts and the law and help facilitate greater accessibility to legal resources for artists. Deanna also serves as a member of the film selection committee for the San Diego Arab Film Festival. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, trying new restaurants, going on walks, and spending time with her friends, family, and cat, Figaro.
