How to Make and Embed Your Own Custom Google Map
Create
1. Sign-up for a Googlei account.
2. Go to Google Maps and select the "My Maps" tab next to the "Search Results" tab.
3. Select "Create new map" and enter a title and description for your map.
4. You should now see four map-making tool buttons in the top-left of the map window, just to the right of the normal map navigation buttons (zoom in and out, pan left and right, etc.). The buttons are: "Select/edit map features," "Add a placemark," "Draw a line," and "Draw a shape." These tools will allow you to customize your map.
5. You can select locations for your map by entering an address or searching for a business and right-clicking on the result. Next, select "Add a placemark." You can add an image and description for the place in the pop-up window, as well as selecting an icon to represent your location on the map. Repeat this for all the places you would like to appear on your map.
Embed
1. When you are finished with your map, select "Link to this page" at the top right of your map. You can copy the text in the "Paste HTML to embed in website" box at this point to put the map on your website. Make sure you are pasting the text as HTML.
2. For more options on how your map will appear, select the link to "Customize and preview embedded map." From here you can select the size of your map, if you would like to show the satellite view, and how much zoom you want. After you have the map looking the way you want, scroll to the bottom of the page and copy the text in the "Copy and paste this HTML to embed in your website" field. All that's left is to past the test as HTML onto your site.
