The Free Software Foundationsearch for term
The Free Software Foundation is an organization founded by Richard Stallman of MIT with the mission of promoting the freedom to create, distribute and modify computer software. It is a nonprofit mostly dedicated to the development of free software for the GNU Project, with the goal of eventually creating an entirely free operating system. The FSF collects thousands of copyright assignments from individual software developers and corporations working on free software. and registers the copyrights under the license that allows them to distribute free software, the GNU Free Document License. The FSF also sponsors Savannah, the source code repository and center for free software development. It is dedicated to the political campaign for free software adoption and to addressing the legal issues involved with the development of free software.
